Around The Office - October 2020

The beginning of October marks the transition into fall, and while we will miss the warmth and long days of summer, there are some things to look forward to during the fall, including new TV shows and movies. In this month's edition of "Around the Office", we will be listing a selection of favourite TV shows and movies as recommended by the staff of Kinzie Financial.

Our bubbly receptionist, Ang, is the first smiling face you see when entering the office, so we figured she should provide the first recommendations. Ang says her current guilty pleasure after leaving the office is to watch Love Island USA. It is an American dating reality show where, contestants living in isolation from the outside, look for love, sweetened by the prospect of winning $100,000 should they be the last remaining couple! Ang also said that she is looking forward to the 9th season of Chicago Fire, which premieres on November 11th on CityTV.

Lori, our capable licensed assistant, is the highly dedicated sports fan of the office with the Dallas Stars being her favourite hockey team. She was keenly watching them as they made their way through the NHL playoffs and into the Stanley Cup Finals. While the result of the finals was not exactly what she was hoping for, it was thrilling nonetheless. With the NHL in postseason now, Lori says she is looking forward to the return of the 5th season of NBC's This Is Us, which premieres on October 27th.

Brian is known for his in-depth knowledge of funds within the financial industry however, he also has a reputation for being a movie aficionado. If the movie has come out recently then you can be assured that Brian has watched it! Although it has been a slow year for movie releases, there is a new movie coming out in the next two months which has Brian excited. No Time to Die will be the last in the James Bond film series featuring Daniel Craig. Rami Malek, well known for portraying Freddie Mercury in the recent Queen biopic, will be playing the newest supervillain in the Bond universe. No Time to Die is set to release on November 20th in North America.

This year has slowed down the release of new content, as filming and production of all kinds have been complicated by new developments this year. As a result, Anne is turning to less recent shows on streaming services to fill the gap that has been created. Her first recommendation is Downton Abbey, which premiered in 2010 and can now be found on Amazon Prime video streaming. Downton Abbey is a British historical drama series set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate between 1912 and 1926, which depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants. Anne's other recommendation is Elementary, a modern-day adaptation of Sherlock Holmes set in New York City. It first premiered in 2012 and ran for 7 seasons on Global in Canada but can now be found on Amazon Prime video.

Hopefully, some of these recommendations can keep you busy during the unpredictable weather of fall! Feel free to share your favourites with us next time you stop by or call the office.
